C. M.

Cold Mountain.

So you have been around for a lengthy time,
What sights hast thou seen upon frozen soils.
Lofty trees amidst the constant tempests of snow,
Yearn for a sunny day yet have no reward.

Life is so still so silent, there is laughter here,
But for a few short blissful hours.
When fleeting folk enjoy for a while,
That which is your smile, and you alone beguile.
Setting out another mile.

Whence the passionate winds caress your icy face,
Comes no lone shelter, to desolate this place.
Contemptible in your way, witnessing the eons away,
Yet here you chose to stay,
Through cloud and bitter day.

What else should you, so mighty one do,
Lest another one say,
Cold mountain you remain.
