WALKING YOU HOME

Such pride I feel and lifting of spirits,
When I was to be blessed, to be escorting you.
As we would pass along, the crowded square,
Through narrow, romantic lanes, the eyes would follow.

You caught the attention, of more folk than I,
And I was jealous, yet proud to be holding your arm.
Relaxed as always, you are not aware, seemingly at all,
Of the rousing attentions of many, noble and stout.

But I would see it all and wonder, just why I,
Had been so very lucky to be by your side now.
You surely, could have chosen from many, the kings,
But here you walk with me, and I still go on smiling.

Aware that you`d not noticed, just what a sight to be,
You were amongst the lowly and I, unaware your grace.
