It had to be today,
Of all days to leave.
When I had just realised,
The truth behind your eyes.
Clear blue, an azure hue,
Were spelling out the love,
You held for me, as always,
But life just had goodbyes.
For once I had determined,
Just what love meant to me.
And how I could repay,
The same to you my love.
An immense debt I owe,
Because of this blessing,
Which I shall surely pay,
Even now from skies above.
The wisdom of the universe,
How can we really know,
When it gives, but takes,
From the bad and the good ?
I fear you may suffer,
As I will surely do,
To know why I am taken,
The grief, understood.
I am undoubtedly free,
To watch the girl I love,
Beside herself with woe,
Not knowing how to cope.
Left all alone in misery,
And a wretched life,
Robbed of the man,
Within who's love, she'd placed a living hope.
Don't worry for me,
I finally found the peace.
Being with you darling,
Tho' brief the time we knew.
Remember now, one hour with you,
Worth an eternity,
That I would gladly give up,
To have been loved by you !!
