A WORLD OF HOPE ?

Crying in the quiet, a home destroyed by war,
Flattened by a bombing raid, wrought violently again.
Children dead and mothers lost, searching in the rubble,
An ethereal silence broken, by the tradgedy of loss.

But we will have our foreign borders held,
Despite that they are so distant, barren lands.
As we search to keep the enemy at bay,
From encroaching upon us, in our liberating deceptions.

We cannot even see, whom our enemy will be,
As ever changing policy, creates an atmosphere of mistrust.
And the fighting force that delivers the word,
Are those that suffer, more than all of us.

Our foes remain elusive, within the desert scenes,
They have the advantage of surprising our troops.
When their honest defense is pushed to protect,
Why don't we get out of a land they rightly own ?

Instead we carry on, igniting the tinder box,
And desolating their homelands in bloodshed vile.
Society disseminating in hateful angst and terror,
The very same said attributes we aim to stop.

So where is the hope for us or for them,
That peace be brought about for one and all ?
When forgiveness is denied, and law forced upon,
Through the barrels of automatic fighting sticks.....

A prayer for Afghanistan. x
