Dragonflies of Dedham

Dragonflies of Dedham

It’s late springtime, early summer,

And the nature all around me,

Shows still the surreal beauty,

Beheld in many simple things.

Turquoise and electric blue blades,

Float above dappled tepid waters,

Following the scent of wild roses,

Along the riverbanks cloaked in green.

Miniature creatures of delicate build,

Hover easily without a sound,

And beauty comes to overtake,

As I pleasure from all I see.

The mating ritual courts desire,

Of simplistic lives to lead,

When once I loved a maiden,

And with love we shared indeed.
