Concrete Jungle

For once I wandered freely,

Upon these open concrete streets.

Lined from every conceivable angle,

The facades of concrete and crystal sheets.

It was once a city filled with desire,

To be the bearer of many dreams.

So sad the flow of mankind,

Is now lost beneath the concrete screams.

For this is what we call progress,

As we climb out of the mire.

The slabs of concrete heaven,

And on the streets a screech of tire.

But not all is lost forever,

It has become a poets dance.

To bring this world into the future,

Give the concrete its last chance.
