Spirit of Crystal Falls

Spirit of Crystal Falls

Somewhere, lost in the mountains,

Not a sound of mans making,

Nor an intonation of his hands,

Lives the spirit of crystal falls.

The sluicing waters come plunging,

Into shallow pools a hint of lime.

And tiny little fishes glimmer,

In the last of the afternoons’ sun.

Dancing upon my open heart,

This spritely phenomena catches me,

Pondering on all of my regrets,

And urging me to move ever on.

As if life existed without time,

This spirit came to help explain.

How fortunate I have always been,

Despite my own initial cursing tone.

How could I be without love,

If only I had open eyes.

For here this notion came alive,

As if I’d forgotten but always known.

Oh yes the flow of memory,

Now shows me I was blind.

I’ve never wanted, throughout my life,

All things of important request.

It has been only what I longed,

Those delights of purely lustful folly,

That held me in a state of want,

Yet saved me from lethal harm.

And as the spirit told me,

Go forth and see your blessings.

I finally realised his hands,

Had always been guiding me.
