What Lasts Forever?

What Lasts Forever?

There is no more time,

No more space, a black hole.

Void is the expanse of life,

And yet, one thing remains.

Our laughter turns to tears,

Joys once longed for turn sour.

In a day we achieve little,

And yet, one thing remains.

That wondrous sound of children,

Hysterical laughter brings a hope.

Then the clouds roll on over,

And yet, one thing remains.

A father teaching a son,

Mothers educating daughters new skills.

These blessings bring us wonder,

And yet, one thing only remains.

Friends sharing quiet times,

Family raising a Christmas toast.

A world full of new tragedies,

And yet, only one thing remains.

Lights all twinkling brightly,

We can send rockets to the moon.

Build bridges to cross huge rivers,

And yet, one thing remains.

History can be repeated,

Nothing new we really ever see.

We go on robbing earths resources,

And yet, one thing remains.

Without this we are nothing,

It is our eternal friend.

We almost forget its’ existence,

And yet love, the last thing that remains.
